Updates Cramped Into One!

Since my laptop gave up on me, it has been sent for repairs for the past few days. Just got the laptop back. And it wasn't cheap. Better than renewing my warranty with Dell which will cost me RM960 for a year. I rather get a new laptop with that kind of money (well maybe need to top up a little bit more than that). So what has happened in the last week or so?

Well since the last update on Australian Open, Roger Federer won his 4th Australian Open title and now has 16 Grand Slams in the bag. Too bad for Andy. Guess he has to wait for another shot at Grand Slam glory. On the womens side, Serena won against another comeback lady, Justine Henin. I was rooting for Justin but I don't think she's ready yet for Serena.

What else? I also volunteered to become one of the rapporteurs at the 10th Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Conference at Wisma OCM on 23 Jan. The theme of the Conference is – "From ‘Good to Great’ – Taking OCM to New Heights". The objective of the Conference is to receive inputs from affiliates of OCM, and other stake-holders to assist OCM to formulate a strategic Plan for the OCM for the five year period 2011 to 2016. All Ihad to do was to take down notes of on the speech and feedback sessions. Mr Wan was also there doing the same thing.

On 24 Jan, I took part in the Sepang Bikethon. The chance of riding in the F1 track was too good to give up on. Since I had no bike, I borrowed it from Ultraman Yip. It was pretty tough going right from the start. We had a 1 rolling lap before starting the 10-lap race (5.5km per lap). Once the riders hit the start, I was already left behind. Tried to stay close to the group but with months of not riding a bike, I find my legs were too weak. The wind played a big part in slowing me down as well and the track isn't flat as what it appears to be. Anyway, I only completed 9 laps and that took me close to 2 hours to complete. I was already burning under the scorching sun (the ride started sometime at 11am). My shoulders are burnt as I didn't put enough sun lotion on it.But it was fun and the experience was all good. Ray, Mich, Daniel and Richard were there too.

Not much updates on my running front as I have not done much since the New Balance Pacesetters 20km. I will be doing the Putrajaya Night Marathon (am only taking part in the Half) this Saturday night. I wish I had prepared better for this race since more prize monies are up for grabs. Now, I think I got to look foward towards the Energizer Night Marathon (27 Mac) as I will be taking part in the 4 x 10km relay. May have a better chance there. Other races I am considering will be the Bareno 15Km Run (14 Mac), and the latest, I heard Towerthon will be on the week after Bareno 15km run (21 Mac). Still not sure about Towerthon as running up the stairs is not something I'm looking foward to.

I have registered for the Sundown Marathon, again in the Half Marathon race. Too bad there's no finisher's T-Shirt given to half marathon category. Looks like I got 3 night races scheduled for the next few months. Looking foward to it!
